Piano-Tężnia Festival
The Piano-Tężnia Festival in Katowice is a series of free piano concerts held in the amphitheater of Zadole Park, near the brine graduation tower in the same park.
The Piano‑Tężnia Festival is more than just a musical event – it is an important social initiative that makes art accessible to everyone.
Stage designs by Bogumił Burzyński have become a hallmark of the festival, giving it a distinctive and cohesive style. The artist has collaborated with the organizers in previous editions as well, creating stage designs and shaping the visual atmosphere of the performance space.
Key motif – piano keyboard
The main elements of the stage design were two wings of piano keys — each 4.5 meters tall — positioned on either side of the stage. Each wing lifted upward the silhouettes of music-playing birds, whose beaks took the form of wind instruments. The design combined monumentality with lightness, creating an evocative backdrop for the concert and emphasizing the musical character of the event.
What’s next for the stage design?
After the concert, the stage design elements were transported to the M. Karłowicz State Music School of the First and Second Degree in Katowice and installed in the school’s Concert Hall. The piano keyboard motif naturally blended into the space.
We will be publishing photos soon.
We encourage you to browse the photos and visit the PSM Concert Hall in Katowice to see the stage design in person.
